In my role as a School Counsellor, I will:

Adhere to the Canadian Psychological Association code of ethics when interacting with students, staff and parents.

Engage in faith formation, social justice and recognition of dignity for all.

Maintain positive and effective relationships with students, parents, district staff and community agencies.

Empower students to achieve psychological, spiritual, physical, social and academic growth.

Encourage youth to reach goals, discover strengths and explore personal career paths.

Provide a confidential, respectful, comfortable and safe environment for students and their families.

Facilitate a collaborative, authentic, empathetic and trusting counselling relationship that allows all students to feel cared for and understood.

Consider cultural background when facilitating conversations and interventions.

Collaborate with educators, administrators, and stakeholders for the unique needs of diverse student populations in areas of counselling service, curriculum, and school policy.

Participate in school meetings that recognize proactive and reactive strategies to support student success.

Provide referrals to community resources which will enhance personal wellness.

Engage in self-reflection and self-care in order to best serve students.
